Herdade Aldeia de Cima: The wines are designed in the vineyard

Herdade Aldeia de Cima is Luisa Amorim's new project, responsible for managing the wines of Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo in the Douro and Taboadella in Dão. Although Herdade Aldeia de Cima has belonged to the Amorim family since 1994, it was not until 2017 that the decision to rebuild the property, together with the planting of a vineyard at levels in the Serra do Mendro, became a life project. The location of the estate, Serra do Mendro, has unique characteristics, which gives rise to a wide variety of microclimates and, consequently, micro terroirs. The vineyard will also differentiate the type of wines it will produce: The Alfaiates vineyard, the first to be planted, is located in spots of irregular geometry characterized by peaks and its sun exposure combined with an unusual thermal amplitude is essential to give the wine freshness. The Aldeya Vineyard and the Sant'Anna Vineyard will be born on the plateau. The soil will influence the structure, perfume and body of the wine. The Family Vine is a reproduction of the ancient agriculture, using an archaic training system, based on goblet vine training, the vines - that have no wire lattice-work and display a “crawling” appearance - are surrounded by the same micro-climate.  On the estate, viticulture is practised in integrated production mode and later converted to organic production mode.  Joaquim Faria is responsible for viticulture, Jorge Alves, as consultant, and António Carvalheiro, as resident, are the winemakers of the wines produced at Herdade Aldeia de Cima. Alyantiju and Herdade Aldeia de Cima Reserva are the first wines from this property.

Herdade da Malhadinha Nova - Wines that tell their stories

The Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, a typical Alentejo estate, was bought by the Soares family in 1998. Since then the family has been working hard to transform the abandoned lands into soils capable of bringing genuine Alentejan products to life - wine production and the raising of native animals in total harmony with Nature. Wine production took shape in 2001 when they planted the first 20 hectares of vineyard, today the estate already has 35 hectares of vineyard.  The grapes chosen for the red wines are: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Miúda, Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Baga. Antão Vaz, Arinto, Roupeiro, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Viognier, Petit Manseng and Alvarinho are the grape varieties selected for the production of white wines. The estate's oenology department is run by consultant oenologist Luis Duarte and resident oenologist Nuno Gonzalez. Monte da Peceguina, Malhadinha, Marias da Malhadinha, Menino António, Pequeno João and MM da Malhadinha include the whole range of wines produced by Herdade da Malhadinha Nova and, each one tells its own story. The difference and uniqueness are also marked by the labels, fruits of the creativity of the younger generation of the Soares family. The children named the wines and tenderly designed their labels. The wines of Malhadinha Nova are elegant, intensely fruity and very complex. They are the result of their respect for nature, their passion and their dedication. Available to purchase!

Herdade de Coelheiros - Wines that evolve with the time!

Located in the municipality of Arraiolos, Herdade de Coelheiros has been producing wines since 1991. This property is located in the demarcated region of Alentejo, stretching over about 800ha, of which 50ha are vineyards. The production of Herdade de Coelheiros wines requires minimal human intervention. In this way it guarantees a greater expression of the grape varieties potential and enhances the terroir profile. Located at an average altitude of 300 metres, the vineyards are planted in seven small plots and are currently in the process of conversion to Organic Production Mode. Wines with longevity and that evolve with the taste of time is the mark of this estate. Coelheiros White and Red wines received the Silver Medal in the Mundus Vini Contes last February. These wines are produced from the Arinto (white), Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet (red) grape varieties. Tapada de Coelheiros White won the Gold Medal in the same contest. The wines Herdade de Coelheiros White and Red are produced from the varieties Arinto and Roupeiro (white) and Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet (red). They are wines that express the unique terroir of Alentejo. There is, still in the market the wine Coelheiros Chardonnay, the last and limited edition. This 100% Chardonnay white wine shows the expression of the grape variety in the Alentejo terroir, revealing a high potential for ageing. A wine cellar edition! And finally Vinha do Taco is a red wine, 100% Petit Verdot, very special for Herdade de Coelheiros. It was in this vineyard, planted in 2001, that the wines of the property were presented. Vinha do Taco is only produced in years of exceptional quality and in limited quantities. Available for purchase!
