Located in a prime spot in the Douro Demarcated Region in Northern Portugal, Quinta do Crasto has been in the family of Leonor and Jorge Roquette for more than a century. Like all the other great Douro estates, Quinta do Crasto dates far back into ancient times. The name Crasto comes from the Latin castrum meaning “Roman fort”. Each year, Quinta do Crasto produces around 1,500,000 bottles of Douro and Port wines. The Quinta do Crasto single varietals are premium wines. Produced exclusively with fruit of the respective variety, they are only bottled in those years of such exceptional quality that the grape showcases all its true potential and achieves the maximum expression of the identity of its variety. Touriga Nacional is a notable Douro Valley grape. It is a very fresh variety that brings vivacity to this very hot region. In addition to freshness, this grape variety has a distinctive aroma marked by notes of violet. Quinta do Crasto Touriga Nacional has a lively and concentrated colour. The intense aroma is of ripe fruit with notes of good wood. It has great presence in the mouth, soft and round, with everything highly well-tuned. The finish is long with hints of spices. Touriga Franca is an emblematic Douro grape that is well adapted to the viticultural characteristics of the region and highly interesting oenologically speaking. It is a reliable variety that has the great virtue of producing low levels of alcohol in spite of the heat in a region such as the Douro. Quinta do Crasto Touriga Franca is rich violet in colour. On the nose, it offers an impressive intensity and highly concentrated aromas of red fruits in perfect harmony with soft floral notes. In the mouth, it starts intensely and then evolves into an elegant wine, with excellent mouth volume and silky tannins, all of which are well integrated with notes of red fruits. Its finish is perfectly balanced, extraordinarily long, and full of freshness. This wine is the perfect expression of the identity of the grape variety. Tinta Roriz is a challenging grape variety from an oenological point of view. High in tannins, its biggest challenge is the phenolic maturation of the grapes. In order to achieve the desired point of tannin maturation, these grapes require the ideal terroir in terms of soil, altitude and sun exposure, with favourable climatic conditions throughout the year. Quinta do Crasto Tinta Roriz has a lively and concentrated colour. On the nose, it presents an intense aroma of ripe fruit with good woody notes.
